Are you considering switching from Emitrr or exploring other options? While Emitrr is popular for its patient communication and automation tools, many clinics and practices eventually start looking for alternatives due to pricing concerns, missing features or a need for deeper EHR integrations.
This shift reflects a broader trend in healthcare operations. According to a report by Deloitte, nearly 8 in 10 healthcare organizations are actively prioritizing investment in integrated patient engagement and communication systems.
In this article, I will break down the top 9 Emitrr alternatives for healthcare practices in 2026. These range from AI-powered messaging platforms to full-fledged patient engagement suites. For each alternative, you will find details on what it does, best use cases, key features, pros and cons, pricing and real customer feedback.
Before we dive into the list, let’s start with a quick overview of Emitrr itself.
Emitrr is a patient communication and engagement platform designed to help healthcare practices streamline front-office tasks and improve patient interactions. It combines text messaging, appointment reminders, review generation, and automation in one place, aiming to reduce manual work for staff and make it easier for patients to stay connected with their providers.
The platform is often used by dental, chiropractic, optometry, and small medical practices that want to modernize how they handle communication. Emitrr also offers features like call tracking, voicemail drops and survey collection, positioning itself as a versatile tool for both patient engagement and business growth.
Emitrr packs a range of tools designed to simplify communication and reduce front-desk workload. While it is not as broad as some enterprise-grade platforms, it delivers the core essentials most small to mid-sized practices need:
Automated Appointment Reminders: Reduce no-shows with SMS, email and voice reminders.
Two-Way Text Messaging: HIPAA-compliant texting to answer patient questions quickly.
Online Review Requests: Send automated prompts for Google and Facebook reviews after appointments.
Call Tracking & Voicemail Drops: Monitor calls and leave pre-recorded messages at scale.
Digital Forms: Collect intake and consent forms electronically to cut down on paperwork.
Surveys & Feedback: Send quick satisfaction surveys to patients post-visit.
Integrations: Works with common dental, chiropractic and medical practice management systems.
Like any patient engagement software, Emitrr has its strengths and weaknesses. Here is a balanced overview based on customer feedback from sites like G2, Capterra and Trustpilot.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Easy-to-use interface; simple and intuitive for non-technical staff | Limited advanced integrations; lacks deeper EHR connectivity |
| Solid review automation; steady increase in Google reviews from SMS requests | Basic analytics; reporting is not as robust as competitors |
| Quick onboarding; teams can get started within days | Scaling issues for multi-location or larger practices |
| Good support team; responsive and helpful during onboarding and troubleshooting | Occasional glitches; small bugs and message delivery inconsistencies |
| Affordable entry point; cost-effective for smaller practices | Niche focus; stronger for dental and chiropractic than large healthcare systems |
Here’s what verified users are saying about Emitrr that is sourced from Capterra, G2 and Software Advice.
“Great product… Having an auto text responder, missed call responses and the voicemail system set up is a game changer for me.” - Hiram B., President, Capterra
“Customer service is unmatched… super easy to use/user friendly… hasn’t had one negative thing to say.” - Spenser G., Co-Owner, G2
“Staying in contact with our clients [has improved]… messages are delivered quickly and reliably.” - Greg T., Systems Analyst, G2
Emitrr has carved out a niche for small and mid-sized healthcare practices by offering affordable communication tools like missed-call texts, voicemail automation and reputation management. However, as clinics expand or their patient engagement needs become more complex, some users start searching for alternatives.
Here are the main reasons why practices look beyond Emitrr:
Emitrr works well for smaller practices, but multi-location groups often outgrow it. They need more robust integrations, advanced analytics and enterprise-grade workflows.
Many providers want deep, bidirectional integrations with major EHRs (Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, etc.). Emitrr offers limited options here, making it harder for larger practices to sync data in real time.
While Emitrr automates basic tasks (texts, missed call responses, reminders), practices that want AI-powered reactivation campaigns, advanced scheduling, or in-depth reporting often turn to competitors like DemandHub, Solutionreach, or Luma Health.
Users have flagged slower conversation loading, occasional bugs in message threading and character limits for SMS. These are manageable for small teams but frustrating for high-volume practices.
Emitrr focuses more on communication than on marketing or growth tools like SEO, advanced reputation benchmarking, or automated reactivation workflows. Practices seeking those extras lean toward platforms like DemandHub, Podium, or RevenueWell.
Although Emitrr has solid reviews for support responsiveness, larger organizations often want 24/7 enterprise support, dedicated account managers and structured onboarding.

What it does: DemandHub is an AI-powered patient engagement and communication platform built for healthcare and local businesses. Unlike Emitrr, which focuses mainly on text-based communication and missed call handling, DemandHub provides a unified inbox for SMS, Google Business Messages, Facebook, Instagram, Web Chat and email. It also automates reviews, scheduling, payments and reactivation campaigns.
Best for: Small to mid-sized practices, dental and chiropractic clinics, physiotherapy centers, and multi-location practices that want a growth-focused alternative with stronger automation and reputation management.
Key Features:
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Affordable pricing compared to most competitors | Still expanding deeper EHR integrations |
| Built-in AI tools reduce manual tasks and boost growth | Best suited for small and medium practices; may lack enterprise-level complexity |
| Easy setup and fast onboarding process | |
| Excellent reputation management with real ROI impact | |
| Great customer support and quick response times |
Pricing: Starts at $59/month, one of the most transparent and affordable pricing models in this category.
REAL customer feedback:
Here is what people say about DemandHub:
Demandhub provides a single point of contact for reaching out users across multiple channels such as Email, Sms, Whatsapp, social media etc. One feature which stands out is asking users to rate our services on google platforms. This has helped us in improving our ratings. - Source (Gartner)
We love how the chatbot chat turns into a text message thread so the client does not need to stay on our website in order to get their questions answered or appointments booked! Customer support is really responsive and helpful. - Source (G2)
Great customer experience and they were very patient with walking me through the onboarding process and usage. Has all the tools I need. - Source (Capterra)

What it does: Podium offers a unified platform for lead conversion, reputation management, and messaging, all from one inbox. It brings together web chat, SMS, and payments seamlessly. If Emitrr gives you text and voicemail automation, Podium adds powerful tools for capturing new leads, boosting online reviews, and engaging through multiple channels.
Best for: Multi-location practices and healthcare providers (dental, med spa, optical, etc.) focused on building stronger local reputation and sending website visitors directly into SMS conversations that can convert into appointments.
Key Features:
Web chat that hands off to SMS conversations
Review requests and response templates
Unified messaging (SMS, web chat)
Payment links & deposits via text
Business listing management for visibility
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Great for accelerating review velocity and online reputation | Healthcare-specific intake features are lighter compared to Emitrr or full PX tools |
| Converts web visitors into ongoing text conversations for lead capture | Pricing can escalate quickly with add-ons; less transparent than Emitrr |
| Intuitive inbox interface keeps all messaging in one place |
Pricing:
Starts at $399/month for core features, with additional premium tiers (e.g., Pro at $599/month) for advanced review and automation functions.
REAL Customer Feedback:
Here is what people say about Podium:
It’s so expensive for very little. The “support” person changes all the time. The salesman drops you and won’t answer emails after he hooks you. They offer amazon gift cards instead of actual rebates (because Amazon gift cards will pay my bills…) - Source (G2)
Podium is still very much a product in development and not suited for mid-sized businesses (it may work for a small business or corner shop). The tech support is virtually non-existent. [sensitive content hidden], the sales rep promised the world just to close the deal but clearly didn’t understand his own product. After investing 100+ development hours in just 30 days, we were left completely on our own. Even after sending a cancellation notice for phone lines, they insisted we cancel Dialpad, claiming Podium had the same level of functionality and support - which it does not. Bottom line: do not trust their promises. Do your own research before investing your time and money here. - Source (Software Advice)
Customer service was non-existent. They don’t care about customers. - Source (Capterra)
Constantly changing representatives, support never followed up with anything, they took forever to integrate with my POS system, and they changed their offering after I had been using them for years. Several years of use and they now do not want to do business with a firearms company. Further this shows they will just turn off your account and leave you unable to use anything including your phone systems if you integrate with them completely. Do not use them! They will change their policies and give you 10 days to leave their platform before turning you off. They just want to take your money and leave you high and dry when you need support or service. - Source (G2)

Automated review requests with reminders
Web Chat → SMS handoff + unified inbox
Customer surveys and NPS reporting

| Clean, centralized messaging platform across multiple patient contact channels |
Pricing: Tiered and quote-based based on locations and modules (reviews, listings, messaging, payments). Mid-to-high range due to a comprehensive feature set.
REAL Customer Feedback:
Here is what people say about BirdEye.
“The lack of customer service made it seem like you couldn’t get a word and all they did was talk, never really nothing and I had several conversations about changing some plans. It seems like they were so money driven and impossible to cancel.” - Capterra
“Literally THE WORST company I have dealt with in over 30 years as an attorney. I cannot stress enough how awful my experience was with Birdeye. Spent months dealing with ineptitude on all levels of their “service”. There was the inability to set meetings with them, spent over $4,000 with them and they got less than 5 reviews in 12 months of working with them, despite my having thousands of clients, LinkedIn contacts & friends on Facebook. Then when I tried to terminate the relationship they refused and maintained that I couldn’t because they don’t cancel contracts, even though as an attorney, I know this to be false. You will be locked into a 12 month contract and you won’t be able to get out of the contract no matter the fact that they failed to deliver on their end of the agreement. BUYER BEWARE.” - G2
“Terrible Terrible company. Outdated and forced you into a long term commitment. Even when that commitment is over and you try to cancel, nobody is available to talk to. You schedule online meetings using THEIR calendar to speak to someone and they don’t show up. Probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. Do yourself a favour, pay a consultant a couple of dollars to set up a custom integration like Birdeye for your business and you will be much much happier.” - Capterra

Pricing:
Base plans begin at $249/month, usage-based. Higher tiers with advanced capabilities are available via custom quotes.
REAL Customer Feedback:
Here is what people say about Weave:
Constantly loses connection with our server, creating errors with auto messaging to patients. Support is useless. I have had three phone calls with a combined 6 hours over the past 2 days and the most recent issue is not resolved (my request was simply to ask why some patients weren’t getting 3 day confirmation reminders and others were. One rep promised to call back with an answer and instead emailed me how to be 10DLC compliant - this was not the issue, which another rep confirmed. The issue still persists). There is a new “glitch” literally every week that requires a new phone call and days to fix (with no actual fix). - Source (G2)
Very negative. We had 2 locations with weave and acquired a third. That location already had an existing weave account so we just needed to transfer the ownership and set up the same features. It is a month and a half later and it still doesn’t work. My so-called account representative [sensitive content hidden] is unreachable and does nothing. We are now looking to switch all of our locations to a different provider. - Source (Software Advice)
In the past 2 years customer service is all but non existent. The system is heavily glitchy. Voice messages and calls are inconsistently recorded. Not a dependable product especially in the last year. - Source (Capterra)

Pricing:
Quote-based, typically starting in the mid-to-upper tier, depending on features enabled and number of locations.
REAL Customer Feedback:
Here is what people say about Solutionreach.
“The platform’s underdevelopment led to frequent issues requiring assistance. While support was accessible, solving a single task often took hours and representatives seemed ill-equipped, offering generic articles that didn’t address my concerns.” - FindEMR
“Overpriced and basic - competitor products are significantly superior. Also, customer service was terrible.” - G2
“Recommend you work with a reputable company who honors the assurances of their sales staff. We trusted the sales rep. Big mistake” - Software Advice
“BUYER BEWARE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. We detrimentally relied on assurances by the sales rep [sensitive content hidden] that we could cancel at any time. I specifically discussed Solution Reach’s reputation for pulling this exact tactic—guess what? They pulled it on us as well. I highly recommend you consider other options. They did not honor his assurances. His Contacts Manager, [sensitive content hidden], dismissed my experience with the company and basically told me tough luck. In my experience and in my opinion, this is not a reputable company to contract with. If they treat medical doctors this way, don’t expect to be treated any better. Steer clear.” - Capterra

REAL Customer Feedback:

“High Pricing. Slow Sync Between EHR Calendar and NexHealth online scheduling.” - G2
“They make changes without adequate/any notification. They change workflow and functionality on the fly and expect the office to adapt. They placate, but do not listen to customers. LIMITED support hours. WEST coast centric mentality - east coast starts at 8am, but west coast support starts at 5am so they can fix issues before they impact the day.” - Capterra

REAL Customer Feedback:
Here is what people say about Luma Health.
“The constant changes of my account representatives really made it difficult to build relationships. Over time Luma’s account representatives stopped contacting the practice and as result we had to figure out solutions on our own. Additionally, they changed their payment terms to where if we didn’t pay them upfront then they would drop us as a customer.” - Capterra
“Constantly have to refresh to view new messages, receiver does not receive any links that are sent ever, when using multiple systems, you do not get any alert to notify you there is a new message so you have to constantly check and refresh” - G2

Here is what people say about NexHealth.

Pricing:
Enterprise-level pricing, custom quotes following call/demo.
